Being part of LTRHK has definitely allowed me to make new friends and find like-minded people like me who are interested in helping the disadvantaged in our society. Just in these 3 months I have spent with them, I'm touched by how everyone was willing to help our targeted community of people and spread the word on our doings, to allow us to be able to share to everyone the importance of giving back to our society.
Before participating in Warmth In Winter, I was always vaguely aware of them, but they were always at the edges of my attention, like I might walk by their shelters, pause, but never reach out. Now I learned how hard it truly can be for the homeless to cope in such an inhospitable and unsupported environment. I also learned about the importance, and impact of reaching out to help and support them, just to show that someone cares.
Through the multiple activities held, I really gained a lot of wondrous memories and it was definitely an eye-opening experience for me from just planning and brainstorming some events to really putting it into action. I also realised how important raising awareness was. It’s impressive to see that team members influence one and each other, as well as how our team expanded from a small group to a larger community.
Thinking of all the team has done within the year, I finally realised how lucky I am and came to appreciate all that I have but not complain for what I don’t have. Spreading kindness in all these activities definitely made me happy, knowing that I helped one. Some say, “One can’t make a difference, you can only help a few”. Yet, if we all contribute to helping others and spreading kindness, it can add up to thousands of people that we are helping.
